Qatar has reopened to fully vaccinated travelers, with eligible travelers able to visit the country without quarantine provided they meet all requirements.
The new measures apply to travelers who are two weeks out from receiving a second dose of two-dose Covid-19 vaccines by Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca or a sole dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. They still will need to undergo a PCR Covid-19 test within 72 hours prior to travel and upload all required documentation on Qatar's Ehteraz—Arabic for "precaution"—website in order to board a flight to Qatar.
The process is slightly more complicated for travelers who received China's Sinopharm vaccine. If those travelers are coming from a country that Qatar has designated as a Covid-19 threat level of "yellow" or "red," they must pre-book a quarantine hotel. Upon arrival at the hotel, travelers arriving from yellow-designated countries—which currently include the United States and several European countries—can take an antibody test and will be released from quarantine if the test is positive. Those arriving from red countries—which currently include Brazil, India and the United Kingdom—will take a PCR Covid-19 test upon arrival and will be released when they receive a negative result.
All visitors also must download and activate the Ehteraz mobile app, for which they will need a domestic Qatari SIM card that they can buy from Ooredoo or Vodafone upon arrival in Doha. The app is necessary to participate in public activities in Qatar, including dining in restaurants or riding taxis and public transportation.
