Qantas in December will add two new routes between Perth and each Johannesburg, South Africa, and Auckland, New Zealand, the carrier announced Monday. Each route will operate three times weekly with Airbus A330 aircraft configured with 27 business class seats each with aisle access and lie-flat beds, and 224 economy seats.
Johannesburg service will begin Dec. 7, and Auckland service will begin Dec. 8.
The Australia-based carrier also said it would introduce in October the Boeing 787 Dreamliner on flights between Brisbane and Los Angeles, which includes the addition of Premium Economy seats. For December and January, Qantas will operate that route with four flights per week and partner American Airlines will launch and operate three flights per week for that period. Qantas will resume daily operations from February 2026.
In addition, for December 2025 and January 2026, Qantas will increase Boeing 787 flights between Melbourne and Dallas to daily. The carrier also in January will deploy Airbus A380 aircraft on its Sydney-Dallas route.
Further, Qantas subsidiary Jetstar from Oct. 28 will cease flying between Sydney and Honolulu, with its Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft to be deployed to other destinations in Asia. Qantas "will subsequently operate between five to six services per week" between the two cities.
