The 10 Meliá Hotels International properties located in Mexico and the Dominican Republic now offer free, on-site Covid-19 antigen tests for guests who are required to present documented results prior to entering their country of origin, the company announced.
The tests, for guests with reservations of at least three nights, should be scheduled upon check-in and are to be taken 72 hours prior to departure, the company. Same-day results are available. If a guest's country of residence requires a PCR test, the resort will coordinate with a local testing site, but the guest will be responsible for the charges.
Meliá also recently launched the Travel Safe with Meliá insurance policy for all reservations for its 10 Mexican and Dominican Republic properties, according to a company spokesperson. The policy includes medical coverage and assistance for unexpected health events, including contracting Covid-19. Coverage also includes a complimentary extension of the guest's hotel stay for up to 15 days; assistance for travel companions, including displacement and living expenses or assistance returning home; general medical expenses of up to €40,000; dental coverage of up to €300; emergency hospital transfers; and dispatch of doctors to hotels.
