Latam Airlines Group will restore capacity to nearly 20 percent of its pre-Covid-19 levels over the next two months, the airline group announced.
The group currently is operating about 5 percent of its previous capacity and plans to up that to 9 percent in June, which will include four international routes from São Paulo—to Frankfurt, London, Madrid and Miami—as well as service between Santiago and each Miami and São Paulo. In July, Latam plans to increase to 13 total international destinations and to reach 18 percent of its former capacity.
With the restored service, the group will be operating 74 domestic routes in Brazil and 12 routes in Chile. Latam's Ecuador affiliate aims to resume domestic flights in June, and affiliates in Colombia and Peru plan to restore domestic service in July, pending local restrictions being lifted.
The group said it has adopted sanitization practices based on World Health Organization recommendations, including requiring masks for passengers throughout the journey, continuous cleaning of aircraft and touchpoints and instituting a boarding process that maintains space between passengers. Fares will be up to 20 percent lower as the group works to rebuild demand.
