Meetings management technology firm SignUp4 announced the
acquisition of Worktopia, a company that several years ago grew to prominence
with a tool enabling buyers to book hotel meeting space online.
"This strategic opportunity fits nicely with our
revenue growth and product strategy" according to a statement attributed
to SignUp4 president Nick Romano. "Worktopia's hotel booking technology
was jointly developed with SignUp4 and the system already integrates with our
Event Management System."
Both companies are privately held; financial terms of the
acquisition were not released. A statement attributed to SignUp4 vice president
of sales Matthew Hodge indicated the company is "exploring new pricing models,
including our traditional license-based model, for the Worktopia Universal
Meeting Solution."
A press statement also indicated that "all operations,
support, and development employees for the combined company will be located at
the Atlanta, Ga., headquarters of SignUp4 operating under the SignUp4
brand," but offered no information on roles for Worktopia executives,
including CEO John Arenas.
