The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration projects U.S. air carrier traffic will increase by an average of 2.5 percent annually
each year over the next two decades, according
to its annual aviation forecast released on Monday. U.S. air carrier capacity
will grow at a similar rate over that period, FAA said in the forecast. FAA
also projects that the number of passengers served annually by U.S. airlines,
which was 756.3 million in 2014, would reach one billion in 2029 and total 1.14
billion by 2035.
