The U.S. Department of Transportation ordered a "comprehensive review" of Boeing 787 aircraft
following several recent incidents. The review is not expected to ground the roughly 50 such aircraft in operation worldwide, according to news reports. “We are confident that the aircraft is safe," according to Federal Aviation Administration administrator Michael Huerta. "But we need to have a complete understanding of what is happening." According to news reports, several problems related to the aircraft arose this week, including an electrical fire on a Japan Airlines aircraft parked in Boston. "A team of FAA and Boeing engineers and inspectors will conduct this joint review, with an emphasis on the aircraft’s electrical power and distribution system," according to FAA.
