The House and Senate have reached a deal to extend Federal Aviation Administration funding, which if approved would end a shutdown of nearly two weeks
and put 74,000 transportation and construction workers back to
work, according to media reports citing Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid
(D-Nev.). Complete details of the compromise were not announced, and the
Associated Press reported the Senate plans to act on Friday to approve the
deal. Department of Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood in a statement
described the deal as a "tremendous victory for American workers
everywhere."
