Taxi Owners Sue Over Ride-Sharing Regulations
Taxi owners are suing New York City and its Taxi & Limousine Commission over a lack of ridesharing regulations. A group including the League of Mutual Taxi Owners and three credit unions that manage loans for taxi medallions in the city filed a suit in federal court Tuesday, alleging the city and commission impose an unfair burden on cab drivers by allowing ridesharing companies to operate without the technology requirements, fare restrictions and other regulations set by the TLC. They're seeking compensatory damages and an injunction from those regulations.
