On Thursday, Amtrak will begin charging $20 for each item that exceeds carry-on baggage limits.
The rail service provider limits each passenger to two carry-on bags, each a maximum of 50 pounds and 28 x 22 x 14 inches, and two personal items, each a maximum of 25 pounds and 14 x 11 x 7 inches. Passengers still may check up to two bags for free on routes for which the service is available.
