Most major U.S. carriers matched a one-way fare hike of $2 to $5 initiated Tuesday by Delta across "the near entirety of its domestic fare structure,"
according to JP Morgan Chase analyst Jamie Baker. Alaska, American, JetBlue, Southwest, United, US Airways and Virgin America followed Delta. Frontier Airlines matched on a "selective" basis, according to Baker. According to Farecompare.com, this newest fare hike was the 17th this year and the first attempt in more than two months.
