Lufthansa will install broadband Internet access on short- and medium-haul flights in early summer 2016.

Lufthansa is partnering with satellite telecommunications supplier Inmarsat for the service, which will enable passengers to use mobile devices via a wireless network. Lufthansa will not allow on-board telephone calls owing to customer preference. It already has equipped all planes in its intercontinental fleet with its FlyNet broadband system.
