GBTA Europe created an advocacy group "to engage with the industry and the European Commission on behalf of its buyer members."
The Global Business Travel Association's European organization indicated that the group would coordinate "GBTA global policy with the U.S. on issues which span from Washington, D.C. to Brussels." According to a statement attributed to GBTA Europe managing director Paul Tilstone, top issues include "data privacy, competition, airline contracting and ancillary fees." To lead the advocacy group, GBTA Europe appointed Hans Ingo Biehl, who also serves as executive director of VDR, the German business travel association. GBTA Europe aims to include representation from across Europe and already has enlisted travel buyers from the Netherlands, the Nordic region and the United Kingdom.
