Due to Icelandic volcanic ash, average daily hotel rates in France, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom from 14 April to 17 April increased double digit percentages and revenue jumped by triple-digit percentages, according to Pegasus Solutions.
Walk-in rates paid by travelers increased 15.2 percent on 14 April, then moderated on 17 April, increasing 10.4 percent. Net revenue skyrocketed on 15 April (up 108 percent) and on 16 April (up 120 percent), according to the company. Hotels experienced a peak net booking increase of 135 percent on 16 April and a peak cancellation rate of 508 percent on 19 April.
