Delta Air Lines on July 1 began assessing $50, or the local currency equivalent, for economy passengers to check a second bag on flights between the United States and Europe.
When the carrier became the first U.S. domestic legacy airline to announce the fee, it applied to all international travel
(BTNonline, April 21), but the carrier since refined the policy to apply only to flights connecting Europe with the United States.
Delta said premium passengers are exempt from the fee, as are elite members in SkyMiles or WorldPerks programs and passengers traveling on Full Y economy tickets.
