WHAT THE COMPANY SAYS
Spotnana offers a travel platform built from the ground up on modern infrastructure, according to company executives. It provides both the technology corporates use to manage their travel programs and the infrastructure TMCs use to service them, which the company said improves servicing, lets travel managers make program changes instantly and speeds delivery of new features. Its use of APIs makes content sources easy to book and service, while AI-driven automation reduces the need for travelers to contact an agent.
Travelers can receive loyalty-based personalized offers and corporate negotiated bundles, and use split payments to buy out-of-policy ancillaries themselves. For travel managers, the platform offers a configurable policy engine and pre-trip approval workflows. Spotnana's platform serves everyone from small-to-midsize businesses to large multinationals across transient, meetings and guest travel.
Spotnana in 2024 moved away from selling directly to corporates as a TMC itself and distributes its technology exclusively through partners. Its website lists Direct Travel, Goodwings, JTB and Solutions Travel as its primary TMC resellers, although it also powers business travel technology platform for spend management platfrom Brex and Marriott’s proprietary booking platform for small and midsize travel programs.
Content
Spotnana's overall content strategy, according to its executives, is to provide the widest selection of content, the best available prices and the best shopping and servicing experiences. It builds direct supplier integrations, which enables it to work with suppliers to accelerate innovation and leverage all the capabilities available via supplier direct sources.
Air & NDC: Spotnana builds direct airline integrations via API. It currently has more than 25 airline partners to date and adds a new partner roughly once a month.
Hotel: Spotnana builds direct hotel integrations via API. It has announced integrations with Marriott International, Booking.com, Travelodge and Premier Inn.
Car: Spotnana pulls car rental content from GDSs and direct integrations with car rental companies, depending on how the partner TMC and corporate program are configured.
Rail: Spotnana offers global rail content through direct and partner integrations, including Amtrak (U.S. and Canada) and Trainline (UK and Europe). In Europe, that includes carriers such as Deutsche Bahn (Germany), SBB (Switzerland), Trenitalia (Italy), Renfe (Spain), and broader Trainline partner coverage, plus features like split-ticket pricing (UK), seat selection and amenities, rail cards and loyalty discounts, and self-service changes and cancellations.
Innovation & Roadmap Claims
According to company executives, Spotnana plans to keep building direct integrations with top suppliers and to use AI to improve the traveler experience, cut costs for buyers and TMCs and open new retailing opportunities for suppliers. That effort relies on a data architecture that works with any content source and binds every element of a trip into a single digital container, with complex booking and servicing workflows automated for each source.
On that foundation, Spotnana has built a multi-agent architecture in which each AI agent handles a specific task, such as recommending policy-compliant options, exchanging a flight or redeeming an unused credit. Travelers, travel managers and agents all have AI-assisted experiences.
This year, Spotnana acquired meetings discovery platform Troop. The company has plans to integrate Troop into a single platform with Spotnana and leverage its growing hotel direct connects to transform the meetings sourcing process away from a traditional RFP. Executives have told BTN the industry isn’t there yet, but with the ability to connect directly to hotel inventory, “there’s no technical reason” standing in the way.
WHAT CONSULTANTS SAY
"The strongest content story [among OBTs]," one consultant told BTN, "and it is architectural rather than commercial," with NDC, GDS, direct connects, and hotel and rail content all sitting behind a single layer.
The same consultant called the user experience clean, modern and quick but said it also depends on the TMC deploying it, so buyers should demo the TMC implementation not just the tool.
Others noted that Spotnana sells only through a relatively small network of TMC partners, not through direct corporate relationships and with one saying, "If you don't want to use one of their TMCs, obviously Spotnana will not work for you."
They added that it may struggle with local content in some regions. Still, consultants generally described Spotnana as a game changer and were positive about Spotnana's AI roadmap, predicting the platform would be “at the forefront of launching multi-agent architecture.” Consultants also remarked on the future benefits of adding meetings and groups capabilities through Spotnana's acquisition of Troop.
WHAT BUYERS SAY
While Spotnana markets itself as a global platform, some buyers have shied away from it as a global solution, calling its global presence a work in progress.
Most buyers praised Spotnana's user experience and self-service capabilities, calling the platform clean and intuitive for travelers and travel arrangers, with few clicks needed to book or make simple changes. A few felt it was still inferior to consumer tools when it came to simplicity of booking.
They also applauded how seamlessly Spotnana combines NDC, direct connect and GDS content, without the search lag one buyer said they see in other tools. Another buyer praised its unified global platform for providing real-time data and making it possible to easily update policy settings and other program configurations.
Buyers also highlighted Spotnana's unused ticket management and its policy controls, which extend to agents as well as the booking tool.
Hotel booking was the main weak spot: One buyer said the default search radius is too wide, property results are duplicated and corporates can't set their own sort order, leading to unnecessary scrolling.
Finally, buyers also confirmed that Spotnana can be available through BCD Travel, which has implemented the platform to support Amazon’s program; however, buyers added that taking the option through BCD could be cost prohibitive.
