WHAT THE COMPANY SAYS
FCM Booking is the company's proprietary online booking tool, built end-to-end with AI at its core as part of FCM's wider platform. It pulls multi-source content, including from GDS, NDC, low-cost carriers, aggregator and airline direct connects. It de-duplicates and ranks that content to surface a short list of personalized, policy-compliant options that can be booked in one tap. It also includes arranger tools built for booking on behalf of others.
The tool is powered by Sam, FCM's AI digital assistant, which learns from traveler profiles, loyalty programs, past trips and company policy to reduce choice overload. The same profile carries across the booking tool, chat and FCM's human consultants, and travelers can view, edit or ask Sam to delete the data held about them.
Configurable policy "tuning" lets travel managers decide how results are ranked and set spend levels by traveler, role or business unit. A "recommended spend" feature calculates a real-time market rate for each trip. For multinational programs, FCM Platform Approvals consolidates approvals in one place regardless of country or underlying booking tool. FCM executives said the platform makes booking as easy as a consumer site, even for large, complex global programs, without loosening corporate controls, and that its AI improves with every booking.
Content Strategy
Air & NDC: FCM accesses NDC content via GDSs, third-party connections and direct connections with suppliers. It did not disclose its content partners. FCM leverages a multi-channel approach to offer the broadest content coverage while preserving the ability to service, change and report on bookings consistently.
Hotel: FCM delivers hotel content via GDSs, aggregators and supplier direct connects. It did not disclose its content partners. Its strategy focuses on maximizing rate and property choice for travelers while allowing FCM to apply de-duplication and ranking logic so travelers aren’t shown redundant options.
Technology Innovation & Roadmap Claims
FCM's technology roadmap, according to executives, reflects its ambition to move beyond transactional travel management toward an intelligent, proactive and increasingly autonomous travel ecosystem. Its investment focuses on transitioning from booking tools to intelligent travel companions, from data to decisions and actions and from rigid processes to intelligent orchestration. By the end of 2026, flight and hotel booking via Sam and an integration with Microsoft teams will enter the pilot phase. Integrations with Slack and WhatsApp are planned for 2027.
By the end of 2026, FCM will introduce AI-powered program monitoring to proactively identify opportunities and deliver recommendations.
Throughout 2027, FCM will deploy natural language analytics, intelligent disruption management and integration with clients' own AI ecosystems through MCP technology. FCM Booking will also expand to additional geographies throughout 2027, supported by enhanced mobile capabilities, multimodal content and a more connected end-to-end traveler experience.
Finally, FCM will introduce enhanced multinational pre-trip approvals from late 2026, followed by multi-tiered and automated approval capabilities in 2027.
Key Technology Differentiators
FCM owns and builds the platform, holds the data and owns the content connections, rather than reselling a third-party tool with a services wrapper around it. This is the differentiator others depend on because it changes what is possible. Multisource content is orchestrated rather than aggregated; FMC connects to all the content and does the work before recommending or displaying choices with duplicates cleansed, fares combined, tickets split when the total is lower, policy applied, and the most relevant options prioritized.
FCM offers a conversational booking that completes the transaction. It is not a chat layer but rather an assistant that reasons over data and content and then hands to a service team member on the same system. Sam recommendations appear natively inside the web and mobile booking flow, not in a separate chat window.
Multi-passenger bookings are issued on separate PNRs, so each traveler can change or cancel independently and privacy obligations are met. Group hotel bookings support an individual form of payment per traveler. Guest travelers can be booked and invited without redirecting the arranger to a legacy system, with permissions set at group level. Travelers can change and cancel online themselves. When a trip becomes complicated, an FCM consultant continues the conversation holding the full context.
Personalization & Policy Features
FCM Booking lets companies and travelers shape personalization without sacrificing policy control. Travel managers use a policy compass to determine how results are ranked and which factors define the best options before travelers compare them. Recommended Spend adds a real-time market benchmark for each trip, replacing static lowest-logical-fare rules. Travelers control a profile combining identity, habits, preferences, trip history, loyalty data and information shared with Sam. They can review, edit or delete stored details. That profile follows them across web booking, chat and consultant service, preventing the experience from resetting when channels change. FCM says this approach delivers efficiency: 77 percent of flight bookings come from the top 10 results, while travelers complete bookings in an average of four minutes.
WHAT CONSULTANTS SAY
Fewer consultants in BTN’ stable had deep experience with FCM Booking compared to some of the other tools. That said, one consultant experienced with the tool praised FCM Sam's content strategy and said the tool had strong NDC content. The user interface looks more like an online travel agency than a traditional booking tool, one consultant noted. That has made the tools appealing to users because it behaves more like a consumer recommendation tool, but it can be an adjustment for travel managers because policy is applied behind the scenes.
Travelers who are used to seeing every option may also need time to adjust to a shortlist of the best two or three.
Consultants said reporting is a standout, with conversational queries, predictive analytics that flag issues early and the ability to analyze non-travel spend.
However, they also cautioned that demos don't always make clear which features cost extra. The tool's main drawback is its reach, so global programs may need to pair it with another tool or with agent-only booking in some markets. Also, it comes off the list when buyers are looking for a tool independent of a TMC.
WHAT BUYERS SAY
FCM Booking has a clean, straightforward interface that feels like an airline app, according to buyers. The user experience, one buyer told BTN, is a hit with travelers who rarely have complaints about using the tool. Buyers were also positive about the tool's air content, including NDC, and the way it was presented to travelers.
Hotel content and search experience was rated as similarly strong, with the ability to easily select properties near office locations. In-depth data and reporting available via the tool was highlighted as a particular strength compared to competitors.
The weaker points noted by buyers included the lack of group booking capabilities, despite the fact that these features are detailed in materials FCM provided to BTN, so that is a feature buyers should interrogate and demo with real content and workflows if it is required. Buyers also felt the booking processes for non-profiled travelers and travel arrangers booking on behalf of others was complicated. They noted some difficulty making changes to air or hotel reservations post-booking.
The limited reach was also a drawback for global buyers, who are required to use alternative OBTs or agency-only in some markets. Buyers said they were particularly looking forward to the AI capabilities FCM has included in its roadmap.
