WHAT THE COMPANY SAYS
Egencia maintains more than 6,000 clients and 12 million users. The platform delivers an average online adoption rate over 95 percent and a 4.7-rated mobile app. Travelers complete 92 percent of trip needs online. Egencia makes one partner accountable for the travel program. Having the booking tool, service team and program management in one place means faster implementation and simpler management. Travelers can book online, via mobile, and choose from chat, email or phone interactions with one service team that sees the full trip. Plus, an artificial intelligence layer that knows program policy. This delivers travelers a personal-assistant chat, while arrangers get AI-guided tools built around traveler preferences. Most recently, Egencia introduced API integration with SAP Concur for connected expense reporting capabilities; other integrated expense partners are also available.
Air & NDC Strategy
Amex GBT builds on NDC connections to deliver a robust, transparent, and service-oriented model that provides the reliability and simplicity you need to fully utilize modern distribution technology. Neo allows you to access NDC bundles and fluid pricing alongside traditional fares. Sources: GDS, connections through third parties and direct connects with suppliers.
Hotel Content
GDS (Sabre, Amadeus, and Travelport+), Direct connects, Hotel aggregator (Booking.com and Expedia)
Hotel Content Strategy
An intelligent marketplace is the foundation of trust in AI-enabled travel. Comprehensive, competitive content is table stakes; what sets an intelligent marketplace apart is how it curates and interprets that content.
Access to content alone risks producing overwhelming choice, where best value is not clear. An intelligent marketplace organizes that content in context — embedding policy, negotiated benefits, loyalty status and preferences into the results — so the goal isn’t to limit choice, but to make choice meaningful.
Ground Transportation Content
More than 100 rail operators available, including Deutsche Bahn, SNCF, SNCB, BeNeRail, Trenitalia, Renfe and Eurostar. Partnerships with SilverRail and Trainline.
Technology & Innovation Roadmap
Egencia’s roadmap rests on five investments: seamless experience, Marketplace leadership, integrated travel and expense, optimized programs and an AI-first platform.
In April 2026, Egencia launched a revamped experience with AI-personalized content including explainability, AI chat in the platform, in Microsoft Teams and Google Chat. It premiered agentic capabilities as well as Concur Expense receipt matching and a new travel manager toolkit.
Key Technology Differentiators
Egencia has more than a decade of applied AI on its own large booking data set. Travelers get agentic chat, and program administrators get program insights and real-time hotel rate benchmarks. Egencia is driven by behavior-shaping design: 85 percent of hotels and flights are booked from the top 10 choices, in under three minutes.
Travel counselors work inside the same Egencia platform as travelers, so support is more connected. Expense partnerships, including the new integration with SAP Concur pays time dividends to travelers and finance.
Personalization & Policy Features
Egencia offers policy parameters that guides travelers. Smart Mix uses machine learning to make the compliant choice the easy one. Travel managers get dynamic hotel rate caps that follow local prices, AI-based approval recommendations benchmarked to similar companies, and clear out-of-policy flags throughout booking. A real-time dashboard tracks compliance by traveler group and trip type; updates reach every channel instantly.
WHAT CONSULTANTS SAY
Egencia is fast to deploy, has a low configuration burden and reasonable pricing. It is strong on complex multinational policy and offers an alternative to legacy GBT servicing. It has enjoyed strong success in the mid-market.
One consultant warned Egencia is a bit inflexible in terms of customization. “It seems that Egencia is now being pushed by Amex GBT as the default OBT proposition for what they regard as SME business.”
Egencia is rated for its breadth of content, made stronger by Amex GBT’s backing, particularly in relation to air content. Hotel content is strong and rail content in Europe good, they said.
On user experience, Egencia is ranked highly. “Historically a top two or three for out-of-the-box usability, especially in the mid-market. The 2026 relaunch added a conversational assistant that sits in Teams and a native Concur Expense tie-in, which is much better now than a few years ago,” one consultant said. The relaunch “put real product behind the claim” putting it ahead of the legacy tools but still behind the newer consumer style tools, in this consultant’s opinion.
Egencia wins plaudits for being stable and cost-effective but programs need to fit into a fairly standard model. “It is not very adaptable to flexible processes, variable approval processes or different travel types,” one said.
WHAT BUYERS SAY
While some buyers are keen to keep their OBT and TMC separate, some like close integration. One buyer said the reasons they chose Egencia were because it offers a single supplier solution with proprietary technology and booking tool. “We do not have a separate TMC and booking tool supplier, which can create issues on accountability and ownership,” they said. Egencia’s global reach is also appealing to many buyers.
Egencia is unashamedly digital and many buyers are looking for this, particularly if their organizations are undergoing a digital transformation. Others, however, questioned whether the standardized platform model provides enough flexibility for complex program requirements, and for those reasons steered away from it in a recent RFP process.
One buyer said they had improved online adoption to 96 percent after implementing Egencia. “Our improvement in online adoption provides the evidence that it is content rich and user logical,” they said.
Egencia has been “very effective” in achieving program compliance, said one, adding that they had benefited from policy position, strong communications and qualified data to support them with addressing non-compliance.
Egencia’s reporting has helped one buyer continually improve their global program, raised stakeholder engagement and “elevated travel to a key seat at the exec table agenda.”
“Egencia has developed bespoke dashboards across supplier-facing, internal stakeholder and duty of care and health, safety, security and environment positions that have assisted us with continued improvements,” they said.
Regarding the recent Amex GBT acquisition by Long Lake, one buyer said they had already met with the leadership of the AI holding company alongside Amex GBT. They reported: “Egencia will be the spearhead of future technology development and enhancements (including AI)—this is extremely positive and exciting.”
