company Northstar Travel Media has acquired 17-year-old hospitality research
and event firm PhoCusWright Inc.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. PhoCusWright is best known for
its annual PhoCusWright Conference, which draws leading travel industry
executives to discuss travel industry issues mainly in the sales, marketing and
distribution areas. PhoCusWright also offers market intelligence on travel
e-commerce and custom research.
PhoCusWright founder Philip Wolf will remain with the group in the
role of chairman of Northstar's PhoCusWright Inc. subsidiary.
"The addition of PhoCusWright provides Northstar with
leadership in the fastest-growing segment of travel, tourism and hospitality: the
convergence of digital technology and the travel industry," according to
Northstar Travel Media chairman and CEO Thomas Kemp. A press statement also
quoted PhoCusWright founder and CEO Philip Wolf as saying, "Joining
Northstar represents an ideal next step. Integrated smart marketing, targeted
investments and more manpower will help us achieve significant new things for
our clients."
