SAS and Lufthansa on June 1 will end a long-standing Germany-Scandinavia joint venture but continue sharing codes,
according to SAS. The airlines initiated their JV in 1995, two years before they helped launch the Star Alliance, of which they remain members. SAS and Lufthansa will maintain "extensive code sharing" and reciprocal loyalty programs and airport lounge access. SAS indicated that Lufthansa will "shift all its European traffic outside Frankfurt and Munich to its subsidiary Germanwings."
