European Parliament's Transport and Tourism Committee advised the European Commission to "clarify air passengers' rights,
ensure that legislation protecting them is applied uniformly and take measures to improve the accountability of airlines," according to a committee statement. Ahead of a March 29 plenary vote on revising air consumer rights legislation, the committee specifically advocated a requirement that airlines offer "the triple choice of refunding, rerouting or rebooking as a basic right in the event of travel disruption." The committee's resolution also proposes new and stronger language requiring carriers to display on websites "all-in airfares" that include every charge levied in addition to the base fare; to "immediately" inform passengers of their rights and relevant procedures when baggage is lost or delayed; to ensure employees are available at airports to help passengers; and to provide passengers "proper compensation when airlines go bust." The committee also proposed a rule allowing air consumers "to correct minor booking errors or withdraw from an online reservation within two hours of booking."
