Australian authorities this week approved a joint venture between Virgin Australia and Singapore Airlines,
enabling the carriers to
cooperate on pricing, network planning and marketing. Australia's approval
follows a similar nod from Singapore. The carriers this year plan to launch
reciprocal frequent flyer benefits and by early 2012 plan to implement a code
share, according to Virgin Australia.
