Air Canada announced "a major expansion" of services from Canada to Europe, effective for its summer 2014 schedule.
The carrier will introduce "up to five weekly" Toronto-Milan flights and increase to daily from three-weekly its Toronto-Istanbul service. Air Canada also will add a second daily nonstop five times a week on the Montreal-Frankfurt route. The airline also plans to add capacity by deploying larger aircraft on Montreal-London Heathrow, Montreal-Brussels, Montreal-Geneva, Calgary-London Heathrow, Calgary-Frankfurt and Vancouver-London Heathrow services. It plans to add capacity to its Rouge subsidiary by launching for the 2014 summer season three weekly Toronto-Lisbon flights, five weekly Toronto-Manchester flights, three weekly Montreal-Nice flights and twice weekly Montreal-Barcelona flights. Rouge also will launch an additional weekly Toronto-Athens flight, upping services to five times a week. Additionally, Rouge will add two weekly flights on its Toronto-Edinburgh route. Air Canada, meanwhile, will convert to Rouge service from mainline operations some other European flights.
