Total travel agency sales last month grew nearly 22 percent compared
with June 2009, while the number of transactions increased by more that 5
percent, ARC reported.
ARC sales last month totaled nearly $7 billion, compared
with the dismal $5.7 billion in sales reported for June 2009. Though continuing
to grow every month on a year-over-year basis, ARC sales last month did not
surpass the $7.19 billion reported for June 2008, though it approached the
$7.02 billion posted for June 2007.
However, the total 12.55 million agency transactions last
month bested the 12.18 million transactions agencies processed in June 2008, while
falling shy of the 12.92 million processed in June 2007. Through June, total ARC
sales are nearly 22 percent higher than in 2009.
