Alaska Airlines in August once again was the most punctual major U.S. airline with an on-time performance rate of 84.5 percent,

according to FlightStats. On average, North American airlines delivered more than 78 percent of their flights to the gate within 15 minutes of schedule, and improvement from July's 73 percent average. Among the largest U.S. carriers, Delta (83.5 percent), American (81 percent), US Airways (80.3 percent) and United (79.1 percent) performed better than average, with Southwest (73.5 percent) and JetBlue (70.9 percent) coming in below average.
