Uber has agreed to sell its self-driving car unit, Advanced Technologies Group, to autonomous car startup Aurora Innovation for an undisclosed amount, the company announced Monday. As part of the transaction, Uber will invest $400 million in Aurora for a 26 percent ownership stake in the company, and Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi and one other Uber representative will join Aurora's board of directors, according to Bloomberg. The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2021 and also guarantees that Aurora self-driving vehicles will launch on Uber’s network. Uber has conducted on and off testing of its self-driving vehicles after a fatal car accident in 2018.
