Uber and China-based electric vehicle manufacturer BYD entered into an agreement whereby Uber will bring 100,000 new BYD EVs to its platform across "key global markets," the companies announced Wednesday. The cars initially will be available in Europe and Latin America, and will expand to markets across the Middle East, Canada, Australia and new Zealand.
The companies intend for the partnership to "bring down the total cost of EV ownership for Uber drivers, accelerate the uptake of EVs on the Uber platform globally and introduce millions of riders to greener rides."
