Uber has agreed to acquire parking reservation platform SpotHero, the company announced Monday, offering the ride-hailing firm entry into a new line of travel-related business.
Financial terms of the acquisition weren't disclosed.
Uber in a statement said it plans to offer "a native, in-app parking reservation experience, powered by SpotHero, with a focus on parking for commuters, as well as at events, venues, and airports."
The company also said enrollees in its Uber One membership program can "expect to see parking benefits as part of their membership," without adding specifics.
The deal would further Uber's reach into the business travel ecosystem beyond ride-hailing and Uber Eats food delivery. SpotHero, founded in 2011, allows users to search for parking spots and book reservations in what Uber said was more than 13,000 parking garages, lots and valets in more than 400 cities in the U.S. and Canada.
SpotHero was the judges' choice for Innovator of the Year at BTN's 2017 Innovate conference.
"We've built Uber around giving people more ways to get around without needing a car," Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said in a statement. "But for the moments when people do choose to drive, SpotHero on the Uber app will make the experience easier than ever, and bring more people into the Uber ecosystem."
It wasn't immediately clear if SpotHero management, including CEO Mark Lawrence, would join Uber.
Uber said it expected the deal to close in the first half of 2026, pending regulatory review and customary closing conditions.
