Salt Lake City International Airport had the highest 2016 on-time
arrival rate among 29 U.S. airports, while New York's LaGuardia Airport was the
most likely to face delays, according to data compiled by infrastructure
advocacy group Global Gateway Alliance.
Though New York's other two major airports also appeared on the
most delayed arrivals list, all of New York's airports improved their on-time
performance compared with 2015. San Francisco International Airport and Los
Angeles International Airport rounded out the "worst" list, and delays
at each increased from the previous year.
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, which
handles more passengers than any other airport in the world, had the
second-best on-time arrival rate. Each of the five best airports improved
on-time performance in 2016.
The
Global Gateway Alliance used data from the Department of Transportation, which
measures "on-time" as arriving within 15 minutes of the scheduled
time.
