Diederik Pen
WestJet president Diederik Pen, who also is WestJet Group COO, plans to retire, the company announced Thursday.
Pen has been president of the carrier since April 1, 2024. He joined WestJet in October 2021 as EVP and COO after serving as COO of Budapest-based low-cost carrier Wizz Air.
Pen's retirement is dependent on the onboarding of his successor, according to WestJet, but is anticipated for the first quarter of 2027, at the latest. A global search for his successor is underway, with Pen "actively involved" in the search process, according to WestJet.
