Virgin Atlantic plans to upgrade multiple aspects of its flight experience in the coming years, adding Starlink Wi-Fi, more premium seating and upgraded lounges, the carrier announced Tuesday.
Virgin Atlantic has partnered with Starlink to provide satellite-based Wi-Fi across its fleet of Airbus A330neo, A350 and Boeing 787 aircraft. Installations are scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2026 and be complete by the end of 2027. The service will be free for passengers who are members of the carrier's Flying Club loyalty program.
The airline also plans to redesign its Boeing 787-9 aircraft cabin in the style of Virgin Atlantic's current Airbus A330neo cabin. Its Upper Class will have 44 seats, up from 31, with premium cabins offering 56 seats, up from 35. The carrier's "Retreat Suite" also will be added to the aircraft type, with eight seats available in each Upper Class cabin. The economy cabin will be reduced to 127 seats from 192 and will include three types of products: Economy Delight, Classic and Light. The new configurations are expected to begin rolling out in 2028 and be complete by 2030.
In addition, the carrier plans more premium seats on its Airbus A330neo aircraft. With deliveries of 10 airplanes set to begin in the third quarter of 2026, the aircraft will offer 48 Upper Class seats (up from 32), 56 premium seats (up from 46) and 128 economy seats (down from 184). Four additional Retreat Suites will be added to the Upper Class cabin with a total of six per aircraft.
After launching its Los Angeles Clubhouse in March, a "multi-million-pound investment" will focus on refurbishing the clubhouses at London Heathrow and New York John F. Kennedy International airports.
Virgin Atlantic also plans to unveil in December 2025 a new mobile app that will "integrate both airline and holiday journeys into one intuitive platform," with guests able to search and book flights and holidays through the app.
