On Oct. 1, Ukraine International Airlines will
begin charging a €10 fee for economy class passengers who check in at the
counter for domestic and medium-haul international flights. Online check-in via
the carrier's website and app will remain free, as will the auto-check-in
option available to passengers who submit passport and contact details when
booking. UIA corporate press secretary Evgeniya Satska said the carrier is
pushing online check-in to cut the costs of maintaining check-in counters.
Cutting those costs, she said, "opens doors for cutting ticket
fares."
