U.S. carriers' on-time performance declined year
over year in January. Seventy-six percent of flights arrived within 15 minutes
of their scheduled times, compared with 81.3 percent a year prior, according to
the Department of Transportation. Domestic flight cancellations, however,
declined to 2 percent, compared with 2.6 percent in January 2016. Mishandled
baggage reports also increased, to 3.4 reports per 1,000 passengers, compared
with 3.32 the previous year.
