The total consolidated dollar value of airline tickets sold by U.S.-based travel agencies rose 4.3 percent year over year in June to $8 billion, according to Airlines Reporting Corp. The average U.S. round-trip ticket was $498. Passenger trips increased 3.5 percent to 25.1 million; U.S. domestic trips rose 3.2 percent 16.2 million, while international trips rose 4.1 percent to 8.9 million. The trips handled by agencies that self-report as handling at least 70 percent corporate/government rose 7.46 percent. Electronic miscellaneous document sales, which include ancillary services like seat upgrades, increased 7.3 percent to $6.9 million. EMD transactions increased 2 percent to 120,860.
