The total consolidated dollar value of airline tickets sold by U.S.-based travel agencies in August fell 1.6 percent year over year to $7.9 billion, according to Airlines Reporting Corp. The average U.S. round-trip ticket price was $483. The total number of passenger trips fell 0.5 percent to 24.8 million. U.S. domestic trips fell 0.6 percent, while international trips dropped 0.3 percent. The number of trips handled by agencies that self-report as handling at least 70 percent corporate/government business fell 0.85 percent. Electronic miscellaneous document sales, including for ancillary services like seat upgrades, totaled $6.8 million, a 6.2 percent year-over-year increase. EMD transaction volume increased 5.2 percent.
