Scandinavian Airlines on Oct. 1 will begin offering business class on flights within Europe in response to "increasing customer demand for premium service," the carrier announced Tuesday.
SAS currently offers business class only on Asian and North American routes.
The business-class cabin on European flights will offer an "enhanced dining experience" and blocked middle seats. Those with business-class tickets will have priority check-in and boarding, and access to more lounges, according to SAS.
"While SAS Plus has provided an upgraded experience, it has lacked the recognition and clarity that travelers seek," SAS chief commercial officer Paul Verhagen in a statement said of the carrier's premium-economy offering. "With the reintroduction of European Business Class, we are ensuring that SAS offers the premium experience of a top European airline."
The new business-class cabin will be offered on all international European flights, including those within Scandinavia, according to SAS.
