John Simeone
Jetstar Asia CEO John Simeone will return to Qantas in the newly created role of executive manager of offshore sales and alliances, reporting to CEO of international Cam Wallace, Qantas Group announced Monday. The appointment is effective Dec. 1.
Jetstar Asia was Qantas' intra-Asia airline, but in June, Qantas announced the carrier would shutter July 31. Simeone had been the CEO for nearly two years. Previously, he spent more than 26 years at Qantas, serving in leadership roles including SVP of Asia and SVP of international sales, according to his LinkedIn profile. He "played a key role in the successful restart of Qantas international sales post-Covid," according to the carrier.
In his new role, Simeone will lead Qantas' offshore sales team and alliance partnerships, with Qantas regional general managers across the U.K., Europe and South Africa, the Americas and Asia, as well as the alliances team reporting to him. In addition, Qantas EVP of Asia Nick McGlynn also will report to Simeone.
