Philippine Airlines has ordered nine additional Airbus
A350-1000 aircraft, with the option to purchase five more, the carrier
announced at the Farnborough International Airshow in the United Kingdom.
The new planes will be used for the airline's
"long-haul growth and fleet modernization," and will include a
business-class cabin with privacy doors, a premium-economy cabin and an
"enhanced" economy-class cabin, according to Philippine Airlines.
The carrier expects deliveries of the new order to begin in
2034. Philippine Airlines has received two of its original 2023 order of nine
Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, with the next seven expected to be delivered by
2028. Those two planes currently are used on routes between Manila and each New
York and Toronto, according to the carrier.
The new order comes one day after Philippine Airlines agreed
to purchase up to 20 Boeing Dreamliners.
