Avianca on June 1 will launch summer service between San Francisco and Guatemala City as a connection point with San Salvador, El Salvador, the carrier announced Jan. 30. Flights will operate four times weekly until Aug. 31.
Porter Airlines will add new routes to the United States for its summer season, the carrier announced Jan. 29. Daily service between Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport and Nashville will commence May 11. Twice-daily service between Toronto Pearson and Boston will start May 14, as will once-daily service between Montréal and Boston.
SAS on Oct. 25 will relaunch daily service between Copenhagen and Dubai for the winter season, the carrier announced Jan. 29. Flights will operate with Airbus A320neo aircraft. It is the airline's first route to the United Arab Emirates since 2011, according to SAS.
Air Canada this winter will launch seasonal service between Quito, Ecuador, and each Toronto and Montréal, the carrier announced Jan. 28. The Montréal flights will begin Dec. 4 and operate three times weekly. The Toronto flights commence Dec. 5 and will operate once weekly. Air Canada also is making its routes between Toronto and each Manchester and Copenhagen year-round beginning in October. On Dec. 17, the carrier also will launch seasonal service between Vancouver and Sapporo, Japan, operating three times weekly.
The gate battle between American Airlines and United Airlines at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport means several new local route announcements from each. United on Jan. 27 announced summer service to five new cities from the airport. Champaign/Urbana, Ill., and Kalamazoo, Mich., service each will begin April 30. On May 7, service to each Lansing, Mich., La Crosse, Wis., and Bloomington/Normal, Ill., will commence. Each of the five new routes will operate four times weekly.
American this spring plans to add four new year-round routes to its network, the carrier announced Jan. 22. The carrier on April 7 will launch daily service between Los Angeles and each Cleveland, Ohio, and Washington, D.C., operating with Boeing 737 aircraft. On May 21, the airline will launch flights between Chicago O'Hare and each Allentown, Penn., and Columbia, S.C., operating twice daily with Embraer 170 aircraft.
WestJet on Nov. 8 plans to launch service between Calgary and São Paulo, Brazil, the carrier announced Jan. 19. Flights will operate three times weekly with Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.
Etihad Airways on Oct. 29 plans to launch service between Abu Dhabi and Luxembourg, the carrier announced Jan. 9. Flights will operate three times weekly with Airbus A321LR aircraft.
Finnair on Oct. 26 plans to launch daily flights between Helsinki and Melbourne via Bangkok, the carrier announced. The route will operate with Airbus A350 aircraft. It will be Finnair's first route to Australia.
