Indian airline IndiGo is set to launch a loyalty program and add a business class cabin on certain domestic routes, the carrier announced this week.
Pre-registration is open for the IndiGo BluChip loyalty program, which is slated to go live in September, according to the carrier. Members will be able to accumulate Bluchips on each IndiGo flight, based on their spend. The program will offer "enhanced travel experiences with exclusive benefits" and loyalty tiers.
Members will earn more BluChips by booking directly on the IndiGo website or app, and review of tiers for upgrades "will occur daily, as opposed to a fixed anniversary," according to the carrier. In addition, BluChips never expire for active members.
The carrier in November also will launch a 12-seat business-class cabin, dubbed IndiGo Stretch, starting with its Delhi-Mumbai flights and eventually expanding to "India's busiest and business routes" by the end of 2025.
The business-class seats will be in a "coupe-style," two-seat-wide bay, with a pitch of 38 inches, width of 21.3 inches, a six-way adjustable headrest with neck support, five-inch-deep recline, electronic device holder, 60-watt USB-Type C power supply and a three-pin universal power outlet. The cabin also will include no convenience fee, a vegetarian meal box, choice of beverages, advance seat selection with no additional charge, priority check-in and anytime boarding, according to IndiGo.
IndiGo has a codeshare partnership with American Airlines, among other international carriers.
