Star Alliance has granted approval for ITA Airways to begin
the integration process into the alliance, the group announced Wednesday. The
carrier is expected to officially join the alliance as a full member "in
early 2026," Star Alliance CEO Theo Panagiotoulias said in a statement.
ITA
is now a member of the Lufthansa Group, and the latter will "mentor
ITA Airways through its integration into Star Alliance." Upon completion,
the Star Alliance network will grow to 26 member airlines, offering more than
18,000 daily flights connecting 192 countries, according to the alliance.
