Globally, air traffic rose 5.3 percent year over year in February, according to the International Air Transport Association. Capacity rose 5.4 percent year. Load factor slipped 0.1 percentage points to 80.6 percent. Crossborder traffic rose 4.6 percent and crossborder capacity expanded 5.1 percent, prompting load factor to fall 0.4 percentage points to 79.5 percent. For domestic air travel—represented for IATA's purposes by the seven domestic countries that account for more than four-fifths of total domestic air traffic—the 5.8 percent year-over-year capacity growth in February similarly outstripped the 6.4 percent traffic growth, causing domestic load factor to fall 0.5 percentage points to 82.4 percent.
