Private aviation company Wheels Up has hired Gail Grimmett as its chief experience officer, a new role that will lead the company's efforts in marketing, event programming and benefits for members.
The hiring brings Grimmett back into the extended Delta Air Lines family, where she worked for more than 20 years, including as Delta's SVP for New York. While in that role, she built Delta's presence in New York and led its Terminal 4 redevelopment at John F. Kennedy International Airport and its hub expansion at LaGuardia. Grimmett left Delta in 2016 and served for two years as the president of Travel Leaders Group's luxury travel division.
Late last year, Delta announced it was merging its Delta Private Jets business with Wheels Up, combining their fleets and membership programs. That transaction closed in late January, and Delta and Wheels Up will work together over the next year to "continue introducing exciting cross-platform businesses and features," according to Wheels Up.
