Delta Air Lines has exercised options for 34 additional
Airbus A321neo aircraft, with deliveries to begin in 2029, the carrier
announced Friday.
With the added planes, Delta's total A321neo fleet will grow
to 189 aircraft. The carrier took delivery of its first A321neo in 2022 and
currently has 92 in service, according to the carrier. Delta retains options
for 36 more of the model.
The planes will be configured with three cabins: First,
Comfort and Main, with seatback entertainment, power at each seat, larger
overhead bins and "upgraded seating."
The aircraft deal is the third this year for Delta. The
carrier ordered 31
additional widebody aircraft from Airbus in January, including 16 A330-900
and 15 A350-900 models. Also in January, Delta announced a deal for 30
Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner widebody aircraft.
