Delta Air Lines COO Gil West will retire next month after 12 years with the carrier, according to a memo by CEO Ed Bastian.
West has been with Delta since 2008 and was part of the team leading Delta's integration with Northwest Airlines. "In subsequent years, Gil's team brought Delta from the bottom of the industry in operational performance to the worldwide gold standard in reliability," Bastian said in the memo.
West will leave Delta at the end of September, and the carrier is evaluating "how to best transition his responsibilities in the current environment," according to Bastian.
