American Express is overhauling the food and beverage offerings at its Centurion lounges, with new menus created by James Beard Award-winning chefs available in the lounges later this month.
Chefs participating in the Centurion Lounge's new Culinary Collective include Afro-Caribbean cuisine specialist Kwame Onwuachi, Southern cuisine specialist Mashama Bailey, Israeli cuisine specialist Mike Solomonov and Italian cuisine specialist Sarah Grueneberg, as well as mixologist Harrison Ginsberg. The chefs are ""some of the most exciting culinary minds in America," according to American Express Travel president Audrey Hendley.
"You'd be lucky to make it to each of their celebrated restaurants across the country, but now visitors to our Centurion lounges will be able to sample dishes created by the chefs," Hendley said in a statement.
Menu items from the Culinary Collective will be available in all 15 Centurion lounges in the U.S. starting July 29 and will change seasonally, according to Amex. The options will comprise about half of each lounge's menu, with the rest made up of cuisine local to the lounge's location.
Select items from the Collective also will appear at the new speakeasy-style Sidecar by The Centurion Lounge, designed for travelers with a limited amount of time, which will open at Las Vegas' Harry Reid International Airport next year, Amex said.
