Archer Aviation, manufacturer of the electric vertical
take-off and landing Midnight air taxi, has partnered with Starlink to bring
high-speed connectivity to its aircraft, Archer announced Feb. 27.
Several airlines have invested in or partnered with Archer,
including United
Airlines, Southwest
Airlines, Japan Airlines, Ethiopian Airlines and Korean
Air. One use case of the eVTOL aircraft would be to offer an alternative to
ground transportation options between city centers and airports.
In addition to providing internet access to passengers,
Archer plans to use Starlink for communications between Midnight pilots and
engineering teams on the ground, and for the companies to work together to
develop a connectivity solution that can help power Archer's future development
of autonomous aircraft, according to Archer.
