American Airlines officially will launch electronic boarding gates "at scale" at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport after a successful pilot in November 2025, the carrier announced Tuesday.
The first sections of the airport to deploy the gates will be American's newly expanded terminals A and C, scheduled to open this year, according to the carrier.
The nearly 20 electronic boarding gates will "streamline manual tasks for American's team members during boarding," provide clear touchscreen instructions "so customers know exactly what to expect," automatically validate boarding passes before opening, and "regulate the pace of boarding to reduce congestion and improve jet bridge flow."
American plans to expand the e-boarding gates to additional hubs and gateway airports "over time" following the launch at DFW.
