American Airlines is set to invest $1 billion in the expansion of Concourse D at Miami International Airport, the carrier announced Wednesday.
The project, dubbed "Gate D60," will create a new three-level Concourse D extension with 17 new gates to accommodate larger aircraft and eliminate outside boarding, according to American. The project also is designed to add the future capability to receive international arrivals with direct access to airport customs.
The project is slated to break ground in 2027.
In June 2025, American announced plans to build a new Flagship lounge and expand its Admirals Club in the concourse.
