American Airlines is consolidating several operational
functions—including its website, app and check-in kiosk network—to the IBM
Cloud platform. American and IBM formed a strategic partnership in November.
Once they rewrite all those applications to the IBM Cloud Platform as a Service,
developers will be able to change them and build new functionalities quickly,
though American will still maintain back-end connectivity to its legacy
systems.
